Kick-Ass lived up to its name.

I went to the 12pm Arclight show of Kick-Ass.

On a 5 star scale, it's a 4 for me. At times during the movie I would have crept up to a 5 and at other times I was drifting down to a 3 but I settled on a 4 mostly for the Kick-Ass ending it gave up.

The buzz behind the movie had got me hooked and I love seeing movies opening day at a great theatre like Arclight. This was a good film to relax with on a Friday afternoon after a week of wrestling with some old and some new projects. I try to go to the theatre once a week if something good comes out. I love the atmosphere of an opening day crowd.

As for the film, the story was about a teenage kid who reads comic books and fantasizes about becoming a masked hero - so that's exactly what he does. Based on a graphic novel (I'm really thinking about approaching my artistic talents again, I think I would have a lot of fun telling a story through the pen and ink method but I have been out of practice for a while) this movie had a lot of fun visuals, great action fight scenes and was established as being closer to our own reality than the ones that the creative minds behind Spider-Man cook up.

There is a bit of controversy on the web about a violent pre-teen character that has a higher body count than anyne else in the film but I wasn't offended. I liked the character.
